In this sermon, Pastor Drew Webb explores Days 5 and 6 of creation, when God filled the seas, skies, and land with living creatures of every kind. Genesis 1:20–25 describes how the waters swarmed with fish, the skies filled with birds, and the land brought forth livestock, creeping things, and beasts. Each of these creatures was made with intention, design, and purpose.
A key theme in this passage is the phrase “after its kind.” Scripture repeats this nine times in five verses, emphasizing God’s order and the reproductive boundaries He set in creation. This stands in contrast to evolutionary theory, showing that living creatures reproduce according to their kind and not into entirely new forms. God’s creation was not accidental or chaotic but purposeful and orderly.
The text also reminds us that when God finished creating these creatures, He declared it “good.” This goodness reflects the perfection of God’s design before sin entered the world. Furthermore, Scripture points us to a future reality where creation will once again reflect this goodness. Passages like Isaiah 11 show that under the reign of Christ, the wolf will dwell with the lamb, and peace will cover the earth. This message encourages us not only to look back at God’s original creation but also to look forward to the hope of restoration through Jesus Christ.
