Genesis 5:1-32
From the Start - Part 13 | From Adam to Noah

Genesis 5:1–32 serves as a critical bridge between the creation account and the flood narrative, tracing the line from Adam to Noah and highlighting God’s ongoing faithfulness to His promise. In this sermon, Pastor Drew Webb explains how this genealogy is far more than a list of names—it is a testimony to the contrast between faithless living and faithful obedience.

The passage emphasizes the line of Seth in contrast to the line of Cain, drawing attention to Enoch, a man described twice as one who “walked with God.” Enoch’s life demonstrates intimacy with the Lord, faith that pleases God, and integrity in a corrupt generation. His transition into heaven without experiencing death points forward to God’s ultimate victory over sin and death.

The chapter closes with the birth of Noah, whose name means rest, reminding us that even in a fallen world God had not abandoned humanity. This message calls believers today to walk with God daily, maintain faithfulness despite cultural corruption, and rest in God’s promises through obedience and trust in Him.
